1. I have Operation Bedroom Renovation, for which I still need to complete the following:
- Finish sewing curtain panels. Hang on curtain rods.
- Finish stripping and refinishing bedside tables
- Finish stripping bark and painting branch curtain rods. Buy appropriate hanging hardware. Hang.
- Buy appropriate hanging hardware for my various art pieces. Hang.
- Buy fabric, batting, and plywood. Make headboard
- Buy Expedit bookcase
- Appropriate finishing touches (sew new covers for throw pillows, set up tree branch jewelry holder, etc).
2. I have Spring Cleaning, for which I need to complete the following:
- Everything in my house except for my bedroom and master bathroom (did the bathroom yesterday and it is so beautiful, I want to lay on the floor and wonder at the cleanliness of it all)
- sort them
- scan them
- edit and restore them
- arrange them all pretty-like.
4. At some point while watching Aaron build the DM Photo website I was like, "Hey! I want to learn Dreamweaver!" So I'm eyeball deep in 10 hours (not exaggerating. It's over 10 hours, I checked) worth of tutorial videos. And after that I want to learn Illustrator (I can't believe I haven't bothered with it before). Possibly use it in conjunction with Dreamweaver to build myself a pretty little website. A website for what? I don't know yet. I haven't gotten that far. But maybe to replace blogger?
5. I recently set a goal for myself to read one book a month. For someone who really really loves reading, I just don't do it that much because I don't make time for it (just finished: The Other Boleyn Girl. Very much enjoyed. Book for April: Atonement).
On top of all this there's, ya know, that little person that I take care of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and who still wakes up every 3 hours at night. Plus laundry. And dishes. And I have to eat and shower some days (but not every day..let's not get crazy here). Plus reading emails (ok and blogs. Very important, you know).
So what I'm saying is, I'm busy. Which is just the way I like it. I thrive on projects and running full speed all day long. But when you throw the cherry of blogging on top of everything else it just feels like overkill and I suddenly find myself spinning in circles trying to figure out what to do next.
When I had a lot less going on in my life my blog was much higher on my priority list. Things would happen and I would automatically think, "blog fodder!" But now the day will go by and I'll realize that I haven't even spared it more than a small thought in between feeding Wes and sewing curtains for my bedroom. And that thought won't even be a good post idea, it's a "Man, I haven't blogged today."
I'm one of those people who really makes an effort to post at least a little something every day. I hereby release myself from that expectation. I'm not quitting blogging by any stretch of the imagination (I love it far too much to do that), but I think I'm going to scale back for a little while until some of my projects get completed. I don't know how much yet, but if I don't readily have something to say I won't sit and search for an idea, I'll just let my blog be silent that day. But if my blog is quiet for a week, don't worry. I'm not dead. Just busy.
For those that email me, this does not mean I don't want to be emailed anymore. I sit and read and respond one handedly to my emails while feeding Wes. I might die of boredom for 20 minutes every 3 hours if you decide this post means I need to be left alone. And if you aren't one who emails me, what's stopping you? I mean, if I slow down the blogging, how are you going to get your Kayla fix? KaylaMoncur(at)gmail(dot)com, that's how.
