Something Sweet

I rarely buy junk food because if I buy it then I will eat it. I often bounce back and forth between my fridge, freezer, and pantry looking for the junk food I know isn't there. I have an insatiable sweet tooth and I refuse to give in to it. You can't even imagine the raging inner battle.

Tonight I was bouncing, getting more and more desperate for a cookie or something (anything!) when I remembered that I had seen a recipe on a blog somewhere for homemade pop tarts that called for pie crust dough and jam. I happen to have 2 ziplocs containing pie crust dough in my freezer (the crust recipe I used for my Pi Day pie yields enough for 3 pie crusts. It's pretty nice knowing I've got dough at the ready in my freezer in the event that a pie-making emergency should arise). And I have a jar of homemade strawberry jam from my mom that needs to get polished off. Hallelujah, I was in business. Bring on the sugar!

I don't remember where I saw it originally, but a quick google search yielded the recipe.

Oh they were fabulous. I only made a couple small ones (the shoulder angel pointing her finger at my residual baby pudge kept me from overdoing it) but they really hit the spot.

Unfortunately, I'm probably going to have to hide my pie crust dough now because every night I'm going to be like, "I need a snack..HEY! I still have pie crust dough and jam!" Curse ridiculously easy desserts!

For a not as easy dessert but one I really really want to make anyway (and probably will because I'm weak like that), check these babies out.

Yum! I like looking at this post and realizing I HAVE POPTARTS IN MY BAG! Yippee!

Also, I've made cakes like those ones you linked to and they are TO DIE FOR!

I don't know why I feel such a love for ALL CAPS this morning, but so be it.

See my house growing up was STOCKED with treats always, and as a result I don't go crazy eating them all up. I think when you DON'T ever have them, WHEN you do...it means trouble!:P My best friend is the same way (can't buy them or will eat them ALL)! I am so sick right now and NOTHING sounds good but that picture is like smelling salts to my appetite!
